Rock Solid Drupal
I'm playing with the big dogs today.
Today I'm starting a week of Lullabot's "Rock Solid Drupal" -- a week of training on running high performance, scalable drupal. Lullabot co-founder Matt Westgate and co-hosts Randy Fay and James Sansbury are going drag my dopey, fat, self-taught-drupal-poser butt into the big time and show us how to run sites that don't give users time to wonder if they've left the iron on between page loads.
And I'm a little nervous.
You have to understand, by training I'm a writer. I taught myself a little programming to get by, but what I've mostly done for years is just enough to solve the next problem, the next challenge -- I rely on Drupal contributed modules, and I've written practically no non-theme-related code since the release of Drupal 6 -- and I didn't do much before that. that last serious programming I did was in Cold Fusion, and that feels like it was a lifetime ago.
And I've never felt at home in a terminal window.
So, today is an adventure. I couldn't be in better hands -- Lullabot's training has been behind almost everything that I'm doing right with my drupal sites today. Everything I'm doing wrong I'm pretty sure I made up on my own.
I'll write a few posts from here, so stay tuned!
